Help Your Body Heal Better, Faster and With More Certainty

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on December 3, 2014

How does your body heal?  How can you help it…or should you even try?

In our thoroughly modern, “scientific” age, we employ all sorts of therapies and remedies to “enhance” or “speed” the healing process.  And quite often, we take drugs to ease the pain and symptoms CAUSED by the healing process.  BUT, I would suggest to you that there is a better way.

Now before I start, I’m not telling you not to go to the ER if you’ve been involved in an accident and need immediate attention.  I’m talking about routine chronic problems that never get to heal and diminish your quality of life.  And well, what I’m about to tell you might even help that broken arm heal better, too.

Your body heals itself much like a mason repairs a damaged wall.   A crew is brought in to remove the damaged parts and prepare the way for rebuilding the wall.  Then new materials are brought in to replace the old damaged material.  A competent and capable body (like the mason) will get the job done in the appropriate amount of time.

How does your body repair itself?

How does your body repair itself?

However, If the nervous system is compromised, the process simply will not function appropriately.  It’s like the mason gets the word late and is not quite prepared for the job.  Then we take something to ease the pain and it’s like giving the mason a bottle of booze to keep him from getting mad.  He can’t focus and just takes longer to do the job at less than 100%.

Enter the chiropractor.  He/she makes sure the brain gets the right signal and proper instructions and the right mason are then sent to the damaged/sick area.  The demolition and repair are done correctly and timely.

So if you want to make sure your body heals properly and as efficiently and effectively as possible, find a good chiropractor that ONLY ADJUSTS the spine to remove this thing we call a vertebral subluxation.  You’ll be glad you did.

Networking

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on November 14, 2014

NETWORKING

I’ve been a “networker” for years. As a young banker, we were required to belong to a civic group like Optimist, Rotary, etc. As you advanced in the bank, your membership at either the country club or dinner club was paid by the bank. These days, “networking” is more direct with the specific intent to GET business.

One of the problems with “networking” these days is the myopic effort to “pitch” yourself in 30-60 second sound bytes. While that might get you some referrals, that gets boring and painfully “salesy”.

IF you’re going to “network”, why not try a longer term approach of GIVING. Instead of silently rehearsing your “pitch” till it’s your turn to stand up and spew, why not make the effort to LISTEN to others make their presentation. THEN think of all the people you know (family, friends, associates) who could possibly use the services of your fellow networkers? Become a resource for everyone you know and they will naturally think of you when someone needs what you have to offer.

The Law of Reciprocation works. As President Kennedy stated “All boats rise with the tide”. We’re in the helping business. Why not help as many people as you possibly can in as many ways as you can. It will add new meaning to your life and you practice.

Are you funcioning in an altered state of consciousness?

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on August 27, 2014

You could be.

You already know that Americans take more drugs of any kind of any other country on the planet.  In fact, ALL the other countries in the World COMBINED take a mere fraction of the drugs that Americans do.  A large portion of those drugs are for diagnosed psychiatric conditions, including Depression, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.  Another large portion of those drugs are for pain and other symptoms, and some are taken for chronic health conditions.  Some are prescribed and some are bought over the counter.

But there’s one thing they ALL have in common, they alter your (and your body’s) state of consciousness.  That’s right.  Every drug you take affects how you see the world.  And how you see the world, determines your thoughts, emotions and actions.

Look.  I’m not saying all medications are bad…in the short term.  What I AM saying is that drugs work BECAUSE they are designed to convince your body it either has something it’s not supposed to have or doesn’t have something it should.  In other words, drugs trick your body into behaving a certain way, whether that is altering chemical levels, suppressing normal immune function or directly affecting your brain and nervous system.

Without saying ANYTHING about all the potential hazards and side-effects posed by taking ANY drug, the long term affect of altering your body’s normal responses to even a single problem can be devastating.  Whether it’s diminished function of a particular system in the body or bad decision making or outright addiction, they all lead to a lower quality of life for you, your friends and associates, and your family members.  When you multiply that by the tens of millions of people taking drugs/medications, you can see the potential harm to an entire culture.

The thing I love most about Chiropractic is that it’s purpose is to help you function at a higher lever NO MATTER what your current circumstance may be.  And the longer you function at higher levels of awareness, the better your life can be.  Imagine how different your life would be right now and how much better it could be if you improved your thoughts, decisions and actions could improve by just 10%.  I think it would be remarkable.

Do what you can to get clean and stay clear.  Your life will thank you for it.

The Friend Within

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on August 26, 2010

There’s a mechanism in all living things that we chiropractors call Innate Intelligence.  Don’t let it scare you.  It’s a name that we use to communicate about the concept that you were Designed to be healthy and powerful and there’s something that guides you toward your greatest good, at all times.  That’s why a great mentor called it “The Friend Within”.

Many of us falter in life because we fail to listen to and obey our “Friend Within”.  We know we should eat right,  exercise, work on our spiritual life, say “I love you” more and simply doing the right thing.  Your “Friend Within” guides you along that path.  It also works on your body without you even knowing it, innately communicating instructions to the body from the brain, conducting the orchestra of life to and through EVERY cell in your body.  It’s that mysterious thing that is present in a living being that leaves the moment one dies.  At that point, cells act independently of the body and starts the decomposition process.

If that Innate Intelligence (or your Friend Within) is disturbed, you actually begin the decomposition process WHILE you’re still alive.  That process leads to dysfunction and eventually disease.

The MOST important thing a chiropractor can do is to teach you about your “Friend Within” or Innate Intelligence and THEN adjust you to allow that mechanism to express itself as closely to 100% as possible. The better able you are to hear that “wee small voice within” and then act upon its instructions, the more powerful your life becomes.

The world needs for each of you to live as close to your God-given potential as possible.  When that happens, we become less prone to disease, strife and war.  We think higher thoughts and make better decisions.  Come join me on this journey toward your own greater good.  Let me introduce you to your “Friend Within”.

Netflix and Unlimited Chiropractic Care

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on August 25, 2010

A long time ago, if you wanted to watch a movie you either had to go see it at the theater or wait for it to show up on TV.  Then came the VCR and you could buy videos to watch at home whenever you wanted.  Then came Blockbuster and you no longer had to buy videos, but simply rent them.  Consumers saved lots of money.  But, Blockbuster got greedy and put all sorts of restrictions and penalties on their customers.  And as always happens in a free market, a new competitor showed up.

Netflix offered unlimited rentals through the mail for a low, flat monthly fee.  This enabled consumers to order the videos they wanted to watch, when they wanted to watch them without fear of restrictions and penalties.  Netflix has improved on the concept and now allows you to simply download a movie on your computer removing another barrier to their customers.  Granted, cable companies are now allowing you to watch and pay for movies on demand.  BUT, Netflix changed the movie rental market and has almost put Blockbuster out of business.

Health care, especially the chiropractic profession is very similar to the movie rental business.  For a long time, insurance would pay for almost any bill a provider submitted.  As a result, fees went sky-high and about the only way folks could afford to the chiropractor was if it was covered on their insurance.  Even without insurance, doctors created “corrective care plans” based on what was the generally accepted per visit fee based on insurance reimbursement schedules.  Needless to say, lots of folks that wanted chiropractic care simply could not afford to go .

An innovation in health care, especially chiropractic, is the concept of unlimited care at a fixed fee.  Because the greatest benefit of chiropractic care is long-term health and wellness, a fixed number of visits over a limited period of time was limiting for both the consumer and the provider.  Unlimited care allows you to get adjusted as often as you need while KNOWING what the cost will be.  And because of the fixed fee, you can include the care as part of your lifestyle without regard to uncertainties in health care and insurance.

Unlimited care programs also work for the provider/chiropractor.  Without having to hassle with insurance companies and an overhead to justify the expense, chiropractors are able to cut their overhead.  Also, the lower fee allows them to see more people with less hassle.  This makes the chiropractor more efficient and more effective.  It actually allows more people to get care in a simple, affordable fashion.  And as people realize the great benefits of regular chiropractic care, the greater demand for simple, effective chiropractic care grows.

I urge chiropractors to consider this business model and consumers who want true health to find chiropractors that use this model.  It’s probably the best way I know to make sure that you’ll find a good chiropractor that does JUST what a chiropractor does.

What IS a Chiropractic Smile?

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on May 24, 2010

Have you ever known someone who just always seems to be smiling?  They seem to ALWAYS feel good.  Nothing seems to bother them.

Well, what you’re seeing is someone who’s comfortable in their own skin.  They’re confident in who they are and what they are.  Life is not defined by their fears but by their faith in knowing they don’t have to live in fear…of anything.

OK.  So what does this have to do with chiropractic?  You probably know folks like that who have NEVER seen a chiropractor.  So have I. BUT, I’ve also seen lots of folks over the years who USED to live in fear of sickness, disease, infirmity and uncertainty who now live powerful lives.  OK.  OK.  Chiropractic.

Here’s the real power of chiropractic.  Chiropractic is based on the premise that everything in the Universe is organized.  In fact, that organization gives all matter its properties and maintains it in existence.  And, that organization is obviously in all living things.  In living things, that mechanism’s job is to help you (and all living things) be the MOST and ?BEST you can be.  It interprets the environment and stimulus around you and responds appropriately.  It knows what is the right chemical balance in YOUR body and dispenses the right hormones in the right amount at the right time.  Really, it’s beautiful!

In fact, it’s the “thing” that keeps all the individual cells, tissues, organs and systems in your body working together in harmony to keep you functioning.   It’s THAT mechanism that leaves a living thing when it dies.  In fact, that mechanism STOPS working the moment you die.  There is STILL life in your body.  It’s just not coordinated.  The life that’s left is random, each individual cell doing ITS very best to survive.  That’s what happens when your body decomposes.  The organizing mechanism leaves you and chaos is left.

That organizing mechanism CAN be diminished in living things, particularly humans.  It can be disturbed by chemical, physical or emotional stress.  The more of these stresses that exists, the more chaotic the organization of the function of the cells, tissues, organs and systems in your body.  In other words, the diminished organization actually causes “less life”.  Eventually, this can lead to sickness, infirmity and disease.  In an effort to deal with the symptoms of this disorganization, people are convinced that drugs can help or that surgery can remove an offending organ.  Sadly, these remedies only mask the EFFECTS of a disorganized body while allowing the REAL problem to continue.

Folks under long term chiropractic wellness care routinely remove a significant cause of this disorganization.  So, their bodies work in a more organized way.  When that happens, they have less need for drugs or surgery.  As they learn to trust and listen to their bodies, they move in a more powerful, independent way.  Their confidence in themselves, their design and the Design for their life continues to grow.  The more they’re able and willing to listen to that little voice inside them, the more powerful their health and life.  Things just work better.  And like money invested routinely with interest and dividends reinvested, their life becomes even more dynamic.

So, the chiropractic smile is power, strength, confidence and joy on the inside expressed on the outside.  My wish for you is that you’ll want to experience this power in your life.  Find a wellness chiropractor that is confident in your potential.  If you can’t find one or don’t know how to find one near you, let me know.  I’ll help you find one.

World’s Most Powerful Drug Rarely Used.

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on September 26, 2008

There is one single drug that is so powerful that all others are compared against it.  Yet, this powerful drug has been cast aside by thoroughly modern, mechanistic Medicine.

Part of the problem with this drug is it’s cost.  It is virtually FREE!  It can be found anywhere.  That’s right, anywhere!  You don’t even have to go to the rain forest to find it.

There’s another problem with this powerful antidote.  It is SIMPLE!  There are NO side-effects or potential damage to your nervoucs system, your digestive system, your circulatory system, your digestive sstem or your skeletal system.  It’s harmless.

And, there’s one more problem with this awesome drug.  It’s available without prescription and you don’t have to worry about it being covered on your “health” insurance plan.

You’ve probably guessed by now that this powerful “miracle” drug, is the placebo.  That’s right.  The lowly sugar pill is used to measure the effectiveness of every drug manufactured.  For a drug to be marketed as being effective for treating any given disease or condition, it must be more effective than the sugar pill in randomized, double-blind studies.

In other words, the fact that a pill you THINK is helping you is THE standard against which all other drugs is measured should give you great pause.  If your thoughts are THAT powerful, what else can they do?  Better yet, if your thoughts are that powerful and have no dangerous side-effects how can you use your mind more effectively?

You were designed to be healthy.  That is your body’s default.  When you think healthy thoughts, you act healthy.  You make better decisions.  You begin to rely less on outside (and potentially dangerous) methods for dealing with your problems.

When thinking about your health, think in BIG terms and about how to be the best you possible without drugs.  You’d be amazed at how powerful, strong and healthy you actually are.

Fighting for the last breath…and the next.

Posted by Marietta chiropractor on February 8, 2008

A friend was talking with me about a relative on life support.  As we spoke, vivid memories of my own mother’s passing flooded my consciousness.

At the time, it was the worst thing I had ever experienced partly because I was the oldest sibling and ended up having to make the decision to take her off life support.  I can see it now as if I were right there in the moment all over again.  And, that’s been 30 years now.  If you’ve ever watched someone take their last breath, it’s something you’ll never forget.  She was unconscious, but she took the deepest breath I’d ever seen.  Held it for a moment.  Then, released it like a balloon with a small hole.  Eerie.

It wasn’t until I became a chiropractor that I realized that her body was fighting for ever single breath it could get.  Not as much trying to simply hold on.  No, it was fighting to live!  Even to the very end, my mother’s body was fighting for her to LIVE, not just to not die.

Once I realized that all living things are designed to function at their maximum potential at evry moment (EVEN at the cellular level) I began to see life and health in a very different way than before.  Knowing that our bodies literally strive for its best at every moment forces you to look at your own life and what you do in a much bigger way, too.

What would our lives, our community, our country, even the World be like if everyone strove to their highest potential instead of trying not to fail or concerning themselves with what someone else was doing?  How would your health be different if you simply focused on being the healthiest you you could be rather than simply avoiding disease or literally planning for it?  How great and healthy could you be if you invested more in good nutrition, a health club membership, a reasonable investment program, meaningful relationship and a strong mental, emotional and spiritual life?  I know too many people who spend all their money on insurance in the event the worst happens instead of planning for and investing in the best that can happen.

If I could urge you to do one thing, it would be to want the very best out of life.  Then, do everything in your power to achieve it.
